On the newspaper!

Boasting time!

Ing Hui and I are on Borneo Post's PostMag today!

An excerpt from the feature article (I'm only going to put paragraphs regarding us. I'm sure you're only interested in us... ;> Anyways...) :

With a book that conspicuos, fellow fans were hard to miss. We found Curtin students Khairunnisa Nasir, 19 and Yong Ing Hui, 20 in Coffee Bean with a book each and noses deep in it already.

"I am not in a hurry," declared Ing Hui, when asked how long it would take her to finish the book. She is from Sibu but studies in Miri, and took a flight down to Kuching to buy her copy. "They do not have it in Sibu yet!"

Her friend Khairunnisa said "I don't wanna stop reading!" She related to how her father suggested that she try the Harry Potter series, having heard that it's supposed to be pretty good.

She also expressed excitement over the upcoming movie "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", based on the fourth book.

"The movie trailer is amazing!"

The two friends expect to finish reading in the next few days.

.... bla bla bla. More about this girl, Purdey Morison who finished reading the damn book in 2/3 hours. Damn, I'm impressed. Took me 3 days. But then I was busy. Ok, on to the next paragraph that mentioned us. This one made me and Ing Hui really really happy.

Having spent the morning bookstore-hopping with the PostMag team and carrying props for the occasion, she said "The main highlight of that morning had to be seeing two girls (Khairunnisa and Ing Hui) reading the book at Coffee Bean.

'She' in the paragraph above is Azreen Zahira, who was with the reporter and photographer. They were so similar to us in so many ways! Azreen called up her friends and squeal about HP. Ing Hui and I looked at each other in awe, both thinking the same thing. "They're like US!!"

We talked about a lot of stuff and they were a very fun bunch of people. Oh, I immediately e-mailed Georgette (the reporter) about the article. It was a very lucky coincidence to have met them that day. Lucky that both Ing Hui and I were hungry and decided to eat at Coffee Bean even though I didn't put any coupons and get fined later. It was all WORTH it. =)

I'll post a picture of us later in the next entry.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I know half of you don't read Harry Potter so I won't talk about it here. Much. As in chapter by chapter. Heh. Cause, well I dunno. You might be wondering "How come Nisa's not yammering about that bloody Harry Potter that she's so obssessed with?"

You guys can skip the rest of the entry. It's pure HP and nothing else. Most of you guys would be so lost I might as well talk in Turkish.

Spoilers Warning. Read at your own risk. No speculations though. Just my thoughts on the book in general. Highlight area with mouse to reveal.

***********************SPOILERS***********************

I love this book because it provided so many insights on LV's life before he came to power. And one of the biggest question like: 'How the hell did LV survived' was answered.

And who would have thought DD died??!!!!! Arrgghh. Never have I cried so hard for a fiction character as I have cried for dear old DD. I was pratically sobbing!

One thing I don't like is the romance. Sure, it's nice to see romance in HP book finally but... Hell. The way JKR wrote and how the couples come together is so crappy. I've read better fanfics. Mostly Harry/Ginny. It's so crappy! Harry has this monster inside his chest?! Roaring wanting to get out bla bla bla?! And Ginny was so understanding and crap when Harry broke up with her in the end. All for a noble cause konon. So, so cliched. I read that in so many fanfictions. If I or any normal girl was Ginny, I would have more reaction then just what Ginny gave Harry. Like a slap or two on the cheek. And a hard kick on the body for good measure. I think JKR's better in writing plots and stuff then romance. Hmmm, I think I read too much fanfics. It's unhealthy and it screws up my point of view. That's what happened when you leave your fans waiting for 2 years, JKR! Ahh well. But I found Ron/Lavendar cute though. How she confides with Harry and everything. Haha.

I watched my ship sank like the Titanic. I ship the SS Library and Leathers btw. HG/DM. Oh well. Wotcher Wolvie (Tonks/Lupin) shippers rejoice! And I never gave the Fang and Flora (Bill/Fleur) a serious thought, but wow, now they have a wedding planned! Ahh.. you win some, you lose some.

B/F. How sweet is that? I don't know why Ginny still grumbles about Fleur in the end. It's great that she really loves him and still wants to marry him in the end despite of his conditions.

And one of the best thing about this book is the growth of Draco's character. He's not just an annoying brat after all. *hugs Draco plush toy* There there Drakie... I really hope he survives in the end. I adore him so much more. He's actually strong. He couldn't kill DD even when LV threaten to kill him and his family. Take that all you Draco haters! -ignoring fact that no Draco haters are gonna read this- Ack! I love my Drakie... Step back Myrtle. You're already dead!

The book doesn't have much humour in it as the 4th or 5th book but it's great because revelations and surprises were pratically on every page!

Ing Hui's 1st day

Ok time to brag.

On 16th July 2005, Ing Hui and I went to get our 6th Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, at Sarawak Plaza. I was so scared about it running out of stock, I drove like a maniac and went the wrong way THREE times when I was on my way to pick up Ing Hui.

Anyways. We got our books. Finally! I was refraining so HARD NOT to squeal. The bookstore was pretty quiet so I just let out a squeak. There it was, all piled up. After two years of waiting... It was such a beautiful sight...

Ahem. Getting carried away.

So we got our books and went to Coffee Bean to have brunch. Yeah the books were more important than our meal. Then, 3 women walked in, one with a tall witch hat on her head. They saw us reading our books and smiled at us. They even invited us to their table. But I was still eating so in the end the woman with the hat came to us.

She sat down, whipped out an orange notebook with an 8TV logo. She then exclaimed "Hi! I'm a reporter from the Borneo Post. I'm doing a feature about Harry Potter. Can I interview you?"

Yes! We were interviewed. They even took our pictures. =) I can't wait to see her feature. She said it'll be out this week in Post Mag or something. I don't subscribe Borneo Post so I dunno the segments. Why don't you guys help me and Ing Hui keep a look out? ;)

The rest of the day was eventful but I'll spare you guys. Let's just say that Ing Hui spent RM500 on her 1st day in Kuching. We were at the saloon for 2 hours. Another 2 hours at the new MNG branch at Parkson. The word of the day was 'Spend spend spend'!

Oh and 'Harry Potter' too of course.

I stumbled upon this on the Net. The clouds look so surreal. I thought that the pics been photoshop or something at first. Check them out here.

Hey Nezz, don't you wish you can take that kind of pics too? ;)

Dream

I had a dream the other night. It was weird and funny that I decided to write it down.

The dream started at a dark mall. I felt so lost. I can't remember what I wanted. But I know I wanted something desperately and was looking frantically for it. At the end of the mall scene, I was huddling all alone in a corner.

Then I was in a car. I was practicing driving it for some car race. It was a really nice grey luxurious car. Something like an RR or Maybach. I practiced at my old primary school for quite some time. Then I went out to the streets.

It rained heavily. There was a traffic jam. I was stuck in it. Drove into a complete stop in front of a big white house with a lone tree outside. Somehow I focused on it and the lightning flashed through the sky, lighting everything up. It gave the tree a spooky look. Even I feel spooked. Then the traffic moved on.

Suddenly Sarah's driving. Then she saw Ernest somewhere and swerved to the left to pick him up. I then saw Ernest in view. He was cuddling with Felix. His head on Lix's shoulder. They sort of look cute. Then Nezz went away to get something and Felix asked if I'm gonna offer him the peanuts. I was wondering what peanuts when I suddenly realise that I have a brown paper bag of peanuts in my hand.

Then I woke up.

The funny and weird thing is... Sarah DROVE!! Whahahahahaha. That'll be the day. =)

But seriously now. I figured out what my dream meant and it's true. Weird...

Ramblings

So far, I'm having fun in Kuching. Friends have been asking for my company every week. My parents are paying for eveything. There's Astro and broadband (all paid by my dad). I can drive around now. It's heavenly to be back home. =)

How are you guys? I know Yasmin just got back from KL. Lucky monkey. Hmph. I wonder how Renee and Ing Hui are... Nezz finally reload his phone. (Thank God. About time too!). I think Steff's rotting at home. Haha. Jasmine and Sarah are burden with assignments (Whahahahha!!). I wonder how that certain KK girl is... NOT!

I didn't get to see Amalina (my best friend) at all! I didn't even get to hear her voice, let alone see her face. I am still so upset. How could she go without saying goodbye? Well, at least she messaged me a few times compared to Rasyiq. All she ever said to him was "Tell Syiq I said hi," through his brother. How sad is that?

I fought with Syafiq. Khalid. I'm not talking to him and I don't intent to ever talk to him again. And please don't ask why. I don't want to tell you. I just want you guys to know that I'm pissed at him and we're not in speaking terms. So don't talk to me about him. Thank you.

Oh and lastly, my laptop kenak spyware. I've scanned my notebook with AVG (no virus found). So I concluded SPYWARES! Ahhhh! So I scanned my laptop with Spybot and Ad Aware. I also downloaded Zone Alarm. You can never be too careful. But alas, spywares are here to stay. Guess I have to reformat my laptop. Grrr... Maybe I'll ask Cbell to do it for me since he offered to help. (Hmmm... is that really a good idea...?)

Movies

Today I went to watch TWO movies at Star Cineplex for FREE. Isn't that just grand? The first movie was War of the Worlds with Nana, Ck and dear old Roland. It was great to see Roland again after nearly 2 years. The sound in the cinema (Cineplex 3) was deafening. Every time the sound go Boom, I thought I'll go deaf and die of a heart attack.

The movie was about aliens invading Earth and they are trying to take over the world. So what else is new? Like any other idiots who tries to rule the world, they fail miserably (with the exception of myself. Do NOT laugh Yasmin!!). And so does the aliens in the movie. They lost. (I'm sorry if you guys haven't watch the movie and are seething with rage and sputtering "Spoiler!!" at the screen right now. But come on, did you really think they'll win?)

I don't believe in aliens. I think they're a bunch of crap but this movie rocks. The sound system just blew me away. Or maybe that's just the cinema. Ahhh... you can't enjoy that kind of luxury in Miri. And maybe I watched it with the right kind of people. You know how the people you're watching the movie with can affect the way you think of it? Media students! Rememberrr...?? I'll tell Haslina if you don't! Heh.

Overall, I think the movie's really tragic. Imagine, so many lives killed. The world can never be the same again. The survivors will live in fear. I mean, of course the aliens will come back after knowing what caused their downfall kan. So, so sad.

I just got back home at 6.25 p.m. 10 minutes after that, Rasyiq called. God, I didn't expect us to watch a movie so soon. Nasib Nana nyuruh balit awal. Heh. It was great to see dear Syiq again. He looked ever so smart. He just got back from work. Wearing long sleeves with black slacks and black shoes. Yummm. He seems to be taller too. Well, I mean, he's always been taller but damn, how could he have grown taller than the last time I saw him?! Well, I can't help but puji. He was my crush after all. He paid for my ticket. I realise I didn't spend even RM1 today. Wow. I'm like Cbell. Waahhh. -pleased with self- I told him that and he was pleased too. Haha. Dear old Cbell.

Oh I'm off topic. So, we caught the 7 p.m show. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It was such a silly, lame movie. At least it was funny. I'm too lazy to sumarize the story and give comments. Thank God I didn't pay for that. Haha. And at least it was with Syiq. Heh. After the movie, he wanted to go somewhere to eat. But I don't have enough money! So I asked him to just bring me home. How disappointing. I would love to spend more time talking to him. Our talks are always so pleasant. When I got back home, all my dad asked was how were the movies. He didn't even question me about anything else. Damn, if I knew I would have gone back later than 9.10 p.m. Heh. :P

Yeah, this is just another entry telling you people that I indeed have a social life and I do go out and I do have friends. Haha.

P.S: And yes I do realise I talk more about Syiq then the movie itself. So what. =)
