In the Japanese society, melons are a luxury items and are often given as gifts. Most melons are priced between $100-$300.
The watermelon above is probably one of the most expensive in the world. Kazuyoshi Ohira, a spokesman for the Tohma Agricultural Cooperative in Hokkaido explained, "It's the unusual black skin and unparalleled taste. It's a watermelon but it's not the same."
Rightttt. If that's the case, I'm going to be a farmer and grow black melons in my backyard and export them to Japan... Oh man I'll be so rich...
So dear readers, here's the question. What kind of person will buy a $6 000 melon? Ridiculous, funny theories are more than welcome.
